I originally created this elegant cat appliqué pattern when I wanted something special for a quick “poodle” skirt to wear to a sock hop. Dogs aren’t really my thing, but cats are! “Good Mews” – this appliqué design can add style and personality to your next project, as well.
I kept the design simple, with the outline and the eyes creating the character of this kitty. Of course, you could always dress her up more with a mouth and whiskers, lashes, bows, or jewelry. The eyes can be appliquéd and/or embroidered for a pop of color or to express the subtle personality of your particular cat. This pattern is suitable for use with wool felt or with woven fabrics if fused to a backing.

It is sized from 3” all the way up to 15”, it’s perfect for everything from a small zippered pouch to a 1950s circle skirt. The images show a 3″, 5″, and 15″ used on pouches and a felt “poodle” skirt. On the larger cat, the eyes have been appliquéd in felt, with embroidered irises. On the smaller cats the eyes have been embroidered.

I can think think of so many places this sweet cat appliqué could find a home – skirts, bags, shirts, quilts.. you name it! Where would you put her?
You can find this pattern and the sample pouches over in my Etsy shop.

I had no idea this beauty was made by you. I love it. I made an Owl for my poodle skirt and call it my Hooter outfit. Haha. My sweet daughter LOVES cats so I am pinning this design. Happy New Year, Kippi
An owl would be adorable! I love all the fun other-than-poodle skirts out there.
