I love this delicate pattern. Tiny clovers branch off from a waving row of satin dots. It’s based on a design from 1812, but it’s fresh enough for today’s projects.

This design would make a darling springtime dress with the wide border at the hem and the narrow one on the sleeves or neckline. It would also be fun on a pillowcase, tea towel, napkins, or other sewing projects. Use green for a fresh pop of color, or white-on-white for a classic look.
My sample is worked up with DMC cotton machine embroidery thread on white linen. The cotton thread gives a soft shine similar to that of using traditional DMC floss by hand.
If you prefer hand embroidery, this design is perfect for practicing your satin stitch. I’d recommend using a nice, soft cotton like DMC floche. This thread has a very low twist that gives a wonderful sheen when worked up.

This pattern is available as both hand and machine embroidery designs. The border comes in two sizes, 1.25″ or 2″ wide. The machine embroidery files include alignment stitches to help you perfectly match up repeats to form a border. Both versions come with a detailed PDF with instructions and full size templates.
